Natalie Portman’s red Dior polka dot dress she wore at the Oscars has sold at auction for $50,000 (£32,000) Portman is the embassador for Dior and whilst working with her stylist Kate Young Portmand tried on the dress from leading New York couture dealers Rare Vintage and as soon as she tried it apparently it need no alterations and that was meant to be her dress for the night.

Since returning the dress the owners then put the dress up for auction on their site 1stdibs.com and a London based vintage collector paid $50,00 for it.

The size 8 strapless red silk organza ball gown with black polka dots came from Christian Dior’s spring/summer 1954 collection created at the height of the legendary couturier’s distinguished career and just 3 years before his untimely death. Telegraph.co.uk
